5 week birthday

It's hard for me to believe all ten pups are now 5 weeks old! We had some company today. As I said earlier, our neighbor Debbie and her son Logan visited, and Auntie Pam came and once again did nails on all ten pups. We love Pam. : )

I have a lot of pictures of all the puppies that I will get uploaded to their Picasa folders this evening and/or tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for being so patient this last week. (okay, some of yo haven't been QUITE as patient, but I understand.)

Several of you have asked how I am feeling about the BCs leaving Monday. Very mixed feelings... I just don't have the space they need here, at this time of year when they have to be indoors. It will be really great for them to get to Linda's and just be in a new place at this point. And there, they will have many different areas to explore!

It's also great that Linda will finally be able to have one of her litters with her through this fun time when they are really getting their personalities. She'll have so much more fun with them being right there, rather than having to make trips down here.

But YES, I will miss them! I won't miss the big pen clean out in the morning, but I will miss the snuggle time, their silly sparring with each other, and in the evening, when each pup sits on my lap for awhile during TV time or while I try to do some computer work. I'll miss their puppy breath, their chewing my toes and their insistence on messing up the pen within moments of me cleaning it. (well, it IS sort of funny) But that time comes for each litter and I always know they are going off to great homes and I'll get to watch them grow and hear about them from their new owners. These are just going a little sooner, and get another great new experience before they go to all of you!

I'm going to stay busy next week and enjoy my adorable little Podengos!

We're 5 weeks old!

Kid visit!

Our neighbor brought her son down to visit babies today. They had a blast climbing all over Logan and he held up very well with puppy teeth! And no, I didn't think to get pics. : (

Bite my sister!

Blitzen

Let me up!

Seriously!

Could they at least wait a few minuted before peeing and pooping on the clean paper I just put in the box for bedtime? (after, of course, removing all of the shredded soiled papers)

But nooo... they can't even wait for me to get my hnads washed. So BACK in the pen I go, picking up more poppy papers and putting down more clean.

Now they are just going to have to deal with it till morning! Oh, did I mention, fun new game. Drag the poopy, wet papers all over the box now...watch your sister roll in it and then tackle her. (maximum coverage)

Oh for goodness sakes! Who just pooped on the blanket??

music critics?

My TV is nearly always on,down here by the puppy pen. Prancer tends to sit her little butt down and watch occasionally, but other than that, very little notice from pups.

Last night though, I'm watching American Idol. The first girl, the one who had the sign, starts singing. Every pup woke up and started howling at the television!

Escape! (part 2)

It was inevitable...  First they could climb out of their whelping box, now the bigger box!

The new pen the babies are in has a swing down door opening that starts 12" off the floor. Up till now, I could leave it down so Neat could come and go as she pleases.  (not that she often pleased without encouragement. ) I awoke this morning to several pupppies in the outer pen WITH Neat, rather than their box. I am sure she was thrilled...

So now that door must remain up and latched and Neat's only access is someone letting her in. And here I though I might get to go back upstairs to sleep this week... oh well, NEXT week! I am going to try to increase them in the next several days to 4 solid meals though ,so maybe they will sleep through the night and not need to nurse. They need to get over that middle of the night snack before next week anyway!

(not certain who Rudolph is playing bitey face with)

(puppy, puppy, which puppy?)

Full tummies = sleepy puppies

Post cereal nap!

Someone fell asleep all by himself!

breakfast

Second meal of cereal was just as greedily received as the first! I plan on three meals for them today, and if that goes well, four tomorrow. Then over the weekend, depending on how tummies are, will start with kibble mush.

Right now it is puppy formula and (human) baby rice cereal. Which makes for a pasty goo all over themselves, the pen and Neat. Neat does enjoy cleaning up afterwards though. I am letting her in after they finish their cereal. The nurse a little bit, but not as much as usual, since their little bellies are full of cereal. It's always been the best way to gradually decrease milk production on my girls. Along with a gradual decline in the dam's kibble, of course.

ick!

Okay, so now I remember what follows putting them on solid food... stinky poops! Everyone woke up at 6AM, like they have been lately, they wander to paper to pee, then cry for Mom. Neat gets in with my nagging) to feed and I am ready to go back to sleep. Then I quickly wake up to the smell of stinky poo. So... NOT back to sleep, puppy pen clean out time! This is where I really start to miss the summer puppy/outdoor pen thing...

Tuesday evening update

Linda came to help intro puppies to their first food! Video is uploading, should be up and working by 9:30. Here are some pics Pam (Williams) and I took today. Pam is SO patient with trying to stack pups, but some are, obviously, a little more cooperative than others. : )

Pups continue to change by leaps and bounds! Not just each day, but practically each hour! I gave them their first toys today and they are showing some interest, though not much yet.

I do have more pics of each pup and will upload into their individual folds on the Picasa site later tonight or tomorrow. Have to do evening pen clean out, then feed myself and big dogs dinner!
